Beginning Tuesday, March 17, the Commissioner of Revenue’s Office, located on the 2nd floor of the Bozman Government Center, is closed to the public until further notice. This includes all in-person transactions for all the Divisions including Administration, Business Tax, Vehicle Personal Property, and DMV Select. Filings and payments can be processed via the Customer and Assessment Payment Portal online at CAPP.arlingtonva.us.
We appreciate your understanding while we work to keep our staff and customers healthy and safe.
Update as of March 30: Until at least April 23, all Virginia DMV customer service centers will remain closed due to ongoing concerns about COVID-19. The validity of driver and vehicle credentials, including Commercial Driver Licenses and Medical Examiner Certificates, has been extended.
Effective March 18, 2020, all 75 DMV customer service centers are closed and all mobile services postponed until April 2, 2020 in response to the continued spread of novel coronavirus, or COVID-19.
To minimize customer inconvenience, DMV at the direction of Virginia Governor Ralph Northam, is extending the validity of driver’s licenses, identification cards, vehicle registrations, and escort vehicle driver certificates for 60 days. This includes individuals aged 75 and older who are typically required to make an in-person visit.
Customers whose driver’s license or identification card expires on or before May 15 will have an additional 60 days to renew their credential. However, those Virginians eligible to renew online or by mail are encouraged to take advantage of those services.
Vehicle registrations that expire in March and April should be renewed online or by mail. Replacement titles can be obtained online and original title transactions can be conducted by mail. If in-person service is needed, these customers will have an additional 60 days to renew credentials without a late fee. During the office closures, DMV will continue to process the transactions that come in through mail and the website, dmvNOW.com.
DMV is encouraging its employees and customers to follow the recommendations of the CDC and the Virginia Department of Health in regards to personal health and social distancing.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

All customer account information is treated with the utmost privacy in accordance with the Code of Virginia. We do not sell or rent our customers’ information to any outside company or organization, nor do we reveal specific information about customers or other personally identifiable data to unaffiliated third parties for their independent use.
